no wireless network

Its weird because I had problems with Linksys but not dlink routers... Make
sure the SSID is exactly the same (caps sensitive) and look for the "connect
even if the network is not broadcasting" that fixed my problem in low signal
areas.

Hi i am use linksys

my wireless card is a intell pro 2100 3b mini pci. i have both a usr and a
westgate routers. and they both do the same thing. i did notice that when i
set up one manualy that it gives me a choice in adapters. the first is the
wireless card listed above, the other is "wireless network connection". if i
choose the wireless network option it brings me to the screen to enter the
router info, after entering that it attempts connection then says it has
failed. if i choose my card and hit next it says "an unexpected error
occurred" if i click the diagnose it says that there are no wireless signals
avalible. signal stranght is not the issue i am trouble shooting it right
next to the router ( under 10 feet)

Hi Patrick,

I have an Intel 2200BG mini PCI card in an Acer 1692 WLMi which connects to
a Linksys WRT54GS+ Gateway/Router.

It looks like if you have any sort or form of encryption between your rouer
and the wireless card you have installed in your equipment (particulrly INTEL
Based), you will HAVE to disable it, as either Vista or the Intel Driver
provided to Microsoft for the hardware, will not work unless the
WEP/WPA/WPA2/CCAP is disabled/turned off.

I have called Intel Support this morning in the UK, and asked if they would
provide the latest patch sent to Microsoft as of the 14th June to the public
via their website. They have said that "...as the hardware is not a retail
packaged unit, but povided by a third-party vendor, they would ONLY issue
driver updates for Vista components via the Vista Windows Update link...",
which is total crap! The driver update is available throuh the vista update
site, but has errors in applying the patch. So it seems one of us can win
with this at the moment.

Try removeing the encryption on your router and let me know how you get on.

Hi,

I've experienced a similar issue using Belkin 54g wireless kit, somehow it
appears that hiding the SSID seems to prevent Vista from reconnecting to the
network. If i renable the SSID broadcast, Vista connects OK and works as
expected. If I then turn off the SSID broadcast, Vista keeps connected until
a reboot then the problems start all over again. Belkin are still devloping
drivers for the wireless cards, so i have to rely on the Broadcom driver
installed by Vista, although it does show that the card is installed and
working correctly. None of these sysmptoms appear with XP running as dual
boot on the same machine.
