Why does Norton always come with Windows laptops?
I wipe that off and put on PCTools firewall plus, Antivirus and
Threatfire -all free.

Computer vendors have partner agreements with many companies. I assume Dell
is being paid for placing Norton's software on their computers.

They all do it. The computer manufacturers put on the software of the
company that pays them the most.

No matter how you slice it, it still is crapware!

A very useful application for any *new* pc is the PC Decrapifier, it
attempts to remove all of the crap on your PC that you never asked for

Consider this:
You are not going to find anything better than the Vista FW and Vista in

Hey! My Daughter In Law just got a new Compaq laptop yesterday. She called
me to find out why some piece of crapware wasn't on HER computer when it
was, in fact, on her girl friends Dell computer. It seems that she expected
the same "programs" and thought they all came with Vista.

So yes, I expect silly questions and comments.
