Norton AV and Security

started an upgrade install of vista and some way in was told to remove norton
av and security from my system as the install has to have an active internet
connection I feel that some kind of security is in order. any suggestions

Yes, you need an antivirus.
This AV works with Vista:
https://www.my-etrust.com/SubscriptC...855&lang=en-US
Depending on your version of Norton, it may or may not be compatible.
Vista has a firewall and spyware tool so that covers the minimums.

BUT remember Windows Vista is still in Beta and will be for several months.
NEVER install Beta anything unless you are prepared to perform a Clean
Installation to remove any issues.
Also be prepared for total data loss.
This applies to any Beta from any manufacturer.

That is part of the nature of Beta and those unable or unwilling to accept
the above remote but possible consequences should not install anything Beta.
