Not allowing partition - max limit

Posted: 01-12-2009, 11:39 AM

Hi
Just got myself a Dell Inspiron 1525. It has a hardisk of 250GB
There are two partitions - HDisk drives - C: of 220GB, the D: drive o
10 GB for Recovery

I wud like to divide the C drive into atleast 2 smaller parts

When I went to Disk Managment - there it shows me 4 drive
1) C : Operating system and primary (220 GB
2) D : - Recovery (10GB
3) (unnamed) - 2.50GB free spac
4) (unnamed) - "for EISA config" - (71MB

I successfully "shrink" the C drive - and creatd an "unallocted" 90G
space:

I then use "new simple volume" on this using the wizard !..:

but at the end the message is :eek
"YOU CANNOT CREATE a new volume in this unallocated space because th
disk already contains the maximum number of partitions

I am aware that Vista normally allows only 4 parititions:eek
So I went back and tried to delete the 4th (2.50GB)... but then it gav
a warning message that vista may not be able to revert thecondidtio
etcc

Can anyone help... could not find this problem tackled earlier
