Nvidia driver problem

Posted: 02-14-2004, 07:18 PM
Hi!

About two weeks ago my monitor suddenly started to flickering, without any
reason.
When I started the windows in VgaSafe mode, there was no problem.
Moreover the flickering is 2-3 (sometimes 10-15) sec long.
I checked the cables, but they're good.
I changed the monitor, the another monitor started to flicker too.
I turned off DirectX9 accelleration, no change.
I installed all of Service Packs and hotfixes, drivers, patches, antivirus
and everything I had found
This was the third reinstall of WinXP yesterday, clean system, but flickers.
Mostly the problems come when I'm surfing in the internet (IE 6).
It is good for an our, for two, and .....
I disabled the Nvidia driver, it was better, but no games, to movies...
....and I had no problem before for a year with the same system...

I've no idea....

Hi,
Windows has a new critical update nvidia driver on thier update site.
Also be sure you have no speakers or electronic devices next to the monitor.
Some poorly shielded speakers can cause that problem. Lastly
I have noticed the same problem while using java applets on netscape. As
soon as I close the java console the flickering stops. Good Luck.......

From my experience with nvidea drivers, the ones on the Windows site
need a good leaving-alone. My board runs with the drivers that came
with it. No other drivers make it run anything but worse.

One other thing to check is your refresh rate.
