Default nVidia Drivers - pretty lame

I have installed Vista Beta2 on a Dell D820 with the following specs: Duo
Core 2.0Ghz, 2GB RAM, 80GB HD, nVidia Quadro NVS120m w/ 512mb RAM, Broadcom
network and Intel Wireless. This is on the highest quality display they
ship with , resolution up to 1920 X 1200.

I cannot get Areo to work, I keep getting BlueScreens due to video drivers,
and I cannot use any of the UI modifications - ie: colors etc. The OS
identifies my video card as a GeForce Go 7400 NOT a Quadro NVS 120m. Has
anyone else seen this issue? I tried installing the new drives from nVidia
but apparently it is not for the Quadro NVS adapters because it reports that
it cannot find a supported video adapter.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Morgan

Morgan;
Regardless if it is the Quadro or NVIDIA, that is not supported on Vista:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_31325.html

You need a different card if you want it to use the Vista features.

Hi:

You sat that both Quadro or NVIDIA are not supported on Vista; however,
your website indicates a list they say are supported on Vista. Could you
explain this a little better, as I have a NVIDIA GeForce FX5200 and would
like to know for sure.

Thanks

It is not my website, it is NVIDIA's.
Your FX 5200 is supported in Vista but the specific card the OP has is not
supported by Vista.

Hi:

I understand it's not your website, as I meant to have said website
referenced by you. Please explain what you meant by the specific card the OP
has is not supported by Vista. I have no idea what OP stands for and exactly
what card you are talking about.

I have a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 display adapter which apparently will not
work with Vista according to you. What would you recommend that I do whereby
I can install and use Vista at some point down the road.?

Thanks

OP = Original Poster of the thread
Morgan is the OP.

Morgan has a GeForce Go 7400 which is not listed on the link I gave so the
card is not supported in Vista..

You have a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 which is on the list and is supported.
Your video card will work with Windows Vista.

If you have Vista, install the appropriate driver based on the Build of
Vista you have:
http://www.nvidia.com/page/search.ht...s=vista+driver

Default Re: nVidia Drivers - pretty lame

The original poster's (OP's) nVidia Quadro NVS120m is not on the supported
list provided
The GeForce Go 7400 that Vista is identifying it as is also not on the list
The GeForce FX 5200 is on the list and therefore is supported.
I will further support this as my GeForce FX 5200 is working with Vista.
I think Mr. Jones meant GeForce when he said nVidia.
HTH (hope that helps)
