Nvidia SATA Raid Support

Posted: 05-18-2006, 06:05 PM
Greets everyone;

I was wondering if anyone of the users here running Vista are able to
run their SATA Raid from nvidia.

Specifically :-) does anyone have an Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe running the
Nvidia raid?

I'm asking because I haven't seen any beta drivers for the nforce4
AMD/Intel 16x on vista on the nvidia.com website as of May 18th

Ok cool, thanks for the post back about it :-) Once I get my lil hands
on Beta2 when it's released I'll have to see if I've got an IDE drive
laying around somewhere... or do the unthinkable :-D & see if I can
install Vista on my SATA2 enclosure until there's drivers for the nvidia
raid.

NVIDIA nForce4 AMD RAID controller unrecognized (64 Bit)
NVIDIA nForce4 WinXP IDE SATA_IDE driver version 5.34/5.35 (32 Bit) can be
installed manually
* NVIDIA nForce 4 - Serial ATA Controller (SATA/RAID)

|- installs automatically for some.
|- nForce4 SLI Intel Edition in Dell XPS doesn't install.
|- for some the XP32 and XP64 drivers function if loaded with the Vista
setup started from WinXP.

Looks Like I Won't be Able to Install Windows Vista Beta 2 on my Brand New
DELL XPS 600, just FYI (Same Nvidia SATA 2 Raid Driver Warning Message with
Windows Vista Beta 2, just like everyone else, just FYI).

Update: Earlier this week, I Successfully Installed Windows Vista Beta 2 on
my DELL XPS 600, I used the Beta NVIDIA NForce 4 SLI Intel Edition Windows
Vista Driver, and the Beta NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Force Ware Windows Vista
Driver from NVIDIA's Website, just FYI.

Sweet, thanks for the update, I'll have to give it a try on my A8N32-SLI
once the public release can be downloaded.

I’m using a RAID 0 configuration with a Gigabyte GA-K8N ULTRA. I was able to
perform a clean install of Vista using the newest NForce4 drivers
(nforce_vistax86beta2) the same method as you would to install F6 drivers:
• Download and extract nforce_vistax86beta2_english.zip from Nvidia and
extract
• Navigate to IDE/driver/sataraid/
• Add all of these (should be 7) to a floppy disc or equivalent
• Navigate to IDE/driver/legacy/
• Add nvatabus.inf, nvcoi.dll, nvide.nvu to the floppy as well
• Insert your Vista Beta 2 disc and restart
• Vista will go through start up and eventually ask if you want to install
additional drivers – just point it to the floppy drive. Drivers should
install and your RAID should be accessible.
After that, Vista installed and ran flawlessly and beautifully!

OldSven,

Is the Ultra a Nforce3 or Nforce 4?

Im having trouble, but my mobo is the GA K8N Pro Nforce 3 250 with siI3512
Sata Raid - those drivers dont mention NF3 or SiI

Suseeded but reverted to Win XP Pro x64 since I was not able to load Creative
Audiology 2 ZS drivers or get either my Epson Styluis Photo 2200 or Lexmark
Optra 1855 to work.

Get the beta Vista nForce driver (from nVidia
"nForce_vista84beta2-english"). Expand it and load the drivers under
IDE-sataraid to a diskette or flash card. When loading Vista, you are given
the opportunity to load more drivers (Used to be F6). I GBhave a 3 80 gbdrive
RAID 0 80 122GB array working fine on a XPS 600. Discovered from benchmarks
that each additional stripped drive imprved read /write times but still no
where near specs published by Dell or nVidia.
