Office 2003 with a XP dual boot

Posted: 08-14-2006, 11:39 PM
I have Office 2003 installed on my XP partition. When in Vista Office 2003
will NOT run such as Word, Excel, etc.... Do I need to install again in
Vista to get it to run?

Yes you must install any program you wish to use into Vista. Yes, it
probably violates the EULA. Why not, as an alternative, download and
install MS Office 2007 Beta? You can find it very quickly on Microsoft's
web site.

The EULA allows for two installations of Office, but on a desktop and
laptop, not on the same machine in different partitions. I agree with you
on the Office beta, or he can use an Office 2003 trial. In TechBeta we have
a download for Office 2003 with a 180-day key for testing. I wish it were
available to CPP.

You and I had a discussion about the EULA and the finer points of what a
"mobile device" may be. I was not aware of the Office 2003 Trialware. In
any event, either of these options, especially when widely available as free
downloads, is a better alternative than violating the EULA of a product.

It depends whether it is an OEM or retail version of Office.
A retail version can have two installations. An OEM version is for one
installation only.

However, the two installations of Office cannot be on different partitions
on the same machine. The EULA grants the right to install on one desktop
and one notebook with the understanding that both are not used at the same
time. Obviously the intent is to allow someone to be able to use his copy
of Office on the go as well as at his primary home or small office computer.
