| Hi all! I have been running Vista for a couple of months with very few hitches (save for HP being so far behind in getting printer drivers out for this system - still can't print!). This week I came upon a new error that is really confounding me - I am trying to install a brand new software program, released for 2007, and I am continually getting a failure error regarding OLEAUT32.dll, with the notation being that either my disk is full or I don't have persmission. Can any of you help me out with a fix to this problem??? Stephanie Outlaw | Guest

| Stephanie-- Which program you're trying to install is giving you the oleaut32.dll error by the way? The reason I ask is that installing a number of programs can do that and there are KBs (Microsoft Knowledge Base Articles) for this you can find by searching the term oleaut32.dll at http://support.microsoft.com --they are predominantly Office and other programs--Visual Studio as well. Also if you had in a previous version, I'd run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility first: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=290301 The WICU might help you install the program. It gets rid of corrupt files that may be in the way of an install or uninstall. It uninstalls no programs themselves. | Now I understand why I got confused, Stephanie. Look at your two posts. Your first post said this: "I am getting an error message while trying to install from CD." You didn't say at all you were trying to install an app so I assumed that you were trying to install Vista and had meant to type DVD instead of CD. Then to confuse things a little more although I don't think you intended to--you started an entirely new thread. You only need one thread for one problem Stephanie. In the second post, you said (you clarified at least you aren't trying to install Vista): "This week I came upon a new error that is really confounding me - I am trying to install a brand new software program, released for 2007, and I am continually getting a failure error regarding OLEAUT32.dll, with the notation being that either my disk is full or I don't have persmission." CH If you get an error while installing an application always post *the name and version of the application and *the exact error message (in this case it's going to be most likely some form of oleaut32.dll is missing which is not an uncommonly seen error message. ( I thought a disc full message was a bizarre thing to see in the setup of an OS and I was right.) | It is a part of the Microsoft Visual Basic Runtime and it is part of a default Vista installation, not VS. I have it on both my Vista x86 and x64 build 5472 systems. "SROutlaw" <SROutlaw@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F9EEAE6D-9E46-4D7F-A6F3-8DE61119ED00@microsoft.com... Quote:
