opeing ports? registering PC?

Opening port refers to the remote access part of the OS
opening a connection to your modem to dial. Registering
your computer on the network refers to the remote access
part of the OS finishing the connection to allow you to
use it.

Those are normal messages. Depending on the modem
connection and the speed of the computer, they may or may
not show up long enough for you to see them.
