Opening second associated file doesn't switch windows

Posted: 08-08-2003, 04:00 PM
I have an editor that is associated with most of my
compiler source code. The editor can have multiple files
concurrently open.

On my old WIndows 95 system, if I double clicked on a file
in the Windows Explorer to open it, the editor window was
always either opened or the system would switch to my
editor window.

With XP, the clicking on the first file opens the editor
and switches to the editor window. Double clicking on
subsequent files does cause the editor to open the file,
but the File Manger remains the active window.

Is there some way I can tell the File Manager (or someone)
that I want to not only open the file but also switch
windows to my editor on subsequent files?

Ken

Strange. Before I posted, a guy here told me to use
tweakui and uncheck the "focus" box. I did that but it
didn't seem to make a difference at the time. I tried
double clicking on three or four additional files and they
were opened in the application, but the window didn't
change.

Later, someone from our MIS dept was next door and I asked
her to take a look at the problem, except it wasn't there
anymore. The windows are opening fine.

The only thing I can think of is that perhaps I had closed
the application and re-opened it, or maybe manually
opening the window (when I checked to see if the files had
been opened) reset something. Or maybe the system simply
realized that I was serious about making it work right and
just gave up hassling me ;<)
