Oprah using a Windows Vista-powered PC?

Oprah Winfrey is regarded by some as the most powerful woman in the US. So
powerful, Texas cattlemen prosecuted her in fear that comments she made on
TV in 1996 about mad cow disease would cause a stampede of loyal Oprah fans
away from burgers. Her book club, meanwhile, influences the reading choices
of 800,000 die hard fans.

What Microsoft has in mind this time, according to reports, is getting
Windows Vista on Oprah's influential favorite things list. And why not?
BlackBerry, Dell and Sony made it.

From the sounds of it, though, Microsoft's Windows Vista team could use a
little of Oprah's star pulling power. Microsoft used last week's Intel
Developers Forum (IDF) to announce some pretty stunning objectives for the
delayed operating system.

Microsoft is gunning for 400m PCs running Windows Vista two years after
launch - that launch being planned for November, according to The Official
Microsoft Connections Blog (read comments). Putting that into perspective,
it took Microsoft two-and-a-half years to ship 130m copies of Windows XP and
three years to hit 210m

Oprah Winfrey? OMG is she still alive? I've heard of her, but I don't watch
much TV to be honest. Living in the middle of a valley in the middle of
nowhere doesn't help the TV signal much either ;o)

Who wouldn't? I'm going to be an apologist, here, for Oprah:

My Dad started me on the IBM PC XT. After typing a letter with Word Wand we
printed it. He said: 'Now we have to save' the file." or something to that
effect. I wondered: "Why on earth would anyone want to save the file - the
letter is already printed!?" And so it goes.

Similarly, around the same time a Mac was introduced at work. Someone called
me over and showed me that one could "drag" a file to the "Trash". I
remember wondering why anyone would want to do that to a file. I didn't like
the Macs from the get-go [just nearing them can make my skin crawl] but I
like the PC and eventually went crazy after installing - all by myself -
Windows 95 on an AMD486DX4-100 machine in 1996, ten years ago.

I wasn't surprised she was confused, we are talking about computers here,
even I get confused sometimes. This was her first time using a computer. So,
Microsoft has their hands full if they want Vista to be one of her favorite
things.

Yes, she is still very much a live, wouldn't have any reason to doubt she
would not be. She's probably the worlds most powerful woman after the First
lady, Queen Elizabeth II probably comes in third, but who knows, I heard the
monarchy is loosing its luster.

Technically she's powerful... however the Queen has very little power. The
only power she has is land and property and even then, she cannot sell it or
do anything much with it. In the Houses of Parliament, they make some ideas
up for laws, they then pass it onto the House of Lords (next door) for them
to say yes or no to them, and then they pass it to the Queen who has to say
yes to it then, that's when a law get's passed... but the Queen cannot say
no to a House of Lords ruling... so in effect, she's pretty much useless!

Not exactly sure about Oprah or any other celebrities, but in an alternate
universe somewhere, Vista definitely has to be a hit with Adolf though.
