OS destroyed?

Posted: 07-27-2008, 11:13 AM
Some significant delay in programm opening required me to run the anti virus
program. And for the first time since 10 years some was found: A trojan and I
got the following warning:
Object: deskbar.dll
Path: C:\Program Files\Brockhaus Multimedia\Brockhaus multimedial
Status: Datei in Quarantäne verschoben
Virus: Win32:Adware-gen [Adw]
After cleaning some fuctions do not work prperly:
Do I need to reinstall the OS now?
Or is it OK with service pack1?

With many thanks for answers

Stefan

Need more details... What "functions do not work properly"? What are the
symptoms? Are there any errors in the Event Logs?

Hi Hank,

when starting the PC I gett the following warnings.
1. C:\windows\system32\rasman.dll is not poberly installed or contains an
error
2. C:\windows\system32\AUDIOSES.DLL is not poberly installed or contains an
error

(The warning text Itranslated from German to English – this PC has a german
istallation)

For both I can only click ´OK
For the first warning I need to click this ´OK´ two times
For the second warning I need to click this ´OK´ several times.

Then when starting the internet explorer – browser I get again the warning
C:\windows\system32\rasman.dll is not poberly installed or contains an error
And again I need to click this ´OK´ two times.
Quite suspecious…

Thanks for your answer.

Stephan,

I found this about rasman.dll.

http://windowsitpro.com/article/arti...-loadquot.html

The second one sounds like an audio problem. I would try going into the
Device Manager and check to see if any devices show up as with a red X
or yellow exclamation point (!). If they do, try re-installing the drivers.

Thanks Hank!
I found this file RASAPI32.DLL in the system but can not delete it - refused
by the system itself.

The Audio device is well installed when I click on the audio icon and check
the properties I get the message that the windows host process Rundll32 does
not work.

More and more questions...

Sorry, I'm out of ideas. At this point, I would seriously consider a

Hank,

is it possible the system was damaged by deleting a F/P?

A false/positive detection. Finding something that looks like a virus
but actually is not.
