"out of paper error"

I keep getting an error "out of paper error" when trying
to print. I have tried three printers and after three or
four times of printing I get the same error. I have
removed and reinstalled the printer drivers each time.
This started occuring in May of this year. I am running
Windows XP and have kept updating windows when requested
ever few weeks. My current printer is an Epson stylus
photo 820. Any ideas?
