Outlook 2007 and Windows Vista

Posted: 10-30-2007, 04:13 PM
New LapTop
Windows Vista and Office 2007 installed
Settings on MS Outlook the same as on previous laptop (Windows XP and MS
Office 2003)
BUT------- Outlook will now send mail but will not receive mail.
I can not see what I am doing wrong. Our engineer has also looked and failed
to spot any difficulty.
Has anyone had similar diffs?
Has anyone got any suggestions?
Many Thanks
F

Hello:

You didn't mention what type of e-mail server you are using. Is it Exchange
Server? What version?

Since this is an IMAP account and you apparently have Exchange Server,
ask your IT Dept. if they've applied the MS patch to Exchange to work
with Vista. I'm not sure if this will solve your issue since Exchange
isn't my area of expertise, but it's worth a try.

You receive an error message when you try to perform any editing tasks,
or you must click to enable the compose frame in Outlook Web Access
(Exchange Server needs a patch for Vista workstations) -

FYI, Exchange uses MAPI by default, not IMAP. I get the acronyms confused
myself, and I have been working with Exchange for a few years now.

IMAP is working fine on my Vista/Office 2007 laptop. You might need to
change the Incoming server (IMAP) port. There are some instructions from
http://www.depts.ttu.edu/helpcentral...IMAP.php?print on how
to do that. The IMAP port that your e-mail provider uses might not be the
default 143. You should have received an error if that's the case, but who
knows. Also double-check your username and password. Those are about the
only things I can think of right now.

I had same problem running Norton 2007 Anti-Virus w/Vista. Try disabling your
e-mail receive/send settings in Norton if that's your anti virus program? It
worked for me untill a patch comes out from Microsoft/Norton...Good luck

Thank You
