Probably an anti-virus feature that has kicked in.

Try Tools, Options, Security tab.

Should see a box for 'Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened
that could potentially be a virus'.

Having this checked prevents you from detaching certain file types
(.exe, .bat, .vbs, etc) that are commonly used to carry a virus.

Remember, the fact the email is from someone you know and trust does NOT
mean that it is virus free!

Regards

Mark

My Comcast account uses "mail.comcast.net" for incoming mail and
"smtp.comcast.net" for outgoing mail. Try those names. If they don't
work, phone Comcast for help, as Matt DuBois suggested.

I contunally get an icon error message in the lower right
hand cornor of my Outlook Express 6 screen. I called my
provider and they told me it was an Outlook Express
problem. To correct this error message I have to go to
tools, accounts, properties, server. The problem then is
my incoming mail is changed to local host from
direcway.com and my account name is my e-mail address and
it should only be corporal_5. I click on apply and this
corrects the problem for a while then it goes back to
local host etc. My provider told me to reload my Outlook
Express 6, but I can't find it. What do you think.

The localhost setting is probably being made by an antivirus program
that's configured to scan your incoming mail.

When I use a web site to send an email, outlook comes up
and then it won't send. I can't delete outgoing mail that
never gets out. How can I get the outbox to delete all
held email that has been there for months???? I would
rather my Hotmail compose comes up instead of outlook.
Unless I know the email address that I am trying to send
a message to,then I have all this backed up stuff in my
outbox in outlook that won't send.
Once in while, after months, sometimes it kicks in and
sends. Weird, or so I have setting set wrong.

PLEASE HELP...
