Outlook Express 6

Posted: 07-05-2003, 05:10 AM
Just changed to WinXP. Whenever I receive mail with an
attachment, I receive the following message:
"OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments in
your mail"

The attachments are from trusted sources. How can I
remove the message so I can read the attachment?

Hi,
From OE, select menu Tools | Options. On the Security tab, uncheck 'Do not
allow attachments to be saved or opened...' and click OK.

You've already been told how to disable the setting to fix this.
I just wanted to add a comment: you can get a virus even from a
trusted source. Even the closest of friends and relatives can get
a virus and send it to you.

When it comes to viruses, caution is much better than trust.

Usually whenever my server sends that error message it means they are having
problems on their end, call your ISP and ask.

No, you recieve your emails FROM manx.net IN Outlook Express. Outlook
Express does not send mail to you.

Have you looked at your ISP's web site to see if there is a server
problem?

For help with your OE questions, try an OE newsgroup such as

microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlooke xpress (for OE 6), or

an OE help website such as http://insideOE.tomsterdam.com. If you're

accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support

Services "Community Newsgroups" web interface, click

http://communities.microsoft.com/new...ternetExplorer

to get to the Internet Explorer groups, then click the plus sign next to

your version of IE to see the link to the Outlook Express group for that

version number. Good luck

Neither Windows XP, nor any other version of Windows, has ever
come with a Spell Checking facility. Outlook Express uses the
spell checker that comes with Microsoft Word, (or another
Microsoft Office program) if you have it installed.

If you don't have Word or Office installed, you probably don't
have a spell checker. However there are several downloadable
freeware/shareware alternative spell checkers that work with
Outlook Express and Outlook. Since I have no personal experience
with any of these, I'll let someone else recommend one.

On the other hand, if a Microsoft Office component *is*
installed, try the instructions at
http://michaelstevenstech.com/spellcheck.htm
