Panasonic DVideo camera stopped working

Hi

I tried this in another group without a reply, hope you
might help.

I really hope someone out there knows whats happening
here. Running Windows XP Pro, about 12 months or so ago I
could plug my Panasonic NV-DS33 into my firewire and XP
would sense it immediately and set it up for me. Cool. I
then captured video to hard disk and edited and burnt my
CDs.

I have, because of all the virus etc, updated all my OS
to latest of everything. (Is this causing me problems?)
Now I tried to do some capturing but XP simply does not
see my DV camera at the firewire. Tried 3 different pcs,
changed cable, nothing. Tried to install the camera with
hardware installer but - no mention of Panasonic in the
driver list. What is going on Microsoft?????

Panasonic retailer mentioned a known bug referred me to
KB, searched and I found Q810032_WXP_SP2_X86_ENU - its
for another Panasonic Camera and allegedly installs the
Panasonic Drivers. Does it hell - nothing changes!!!

PLEASE - ANYONE - EVEN if you are guessing post an
answer!!

I've checked your camera on all the compatibility lists and it's not listed.
That would appear to be the source of your problem.

The fact that it did work at one time does not necessarily mean it was
compatible. If you did an upgrade install of XP, it may have just been
carried over in the upgrade. If you did a clean install and it previously
worked, it may only have been marginally compatible which was why it's not
on the lists and further updates pushed it across the threshold of
incompatibility.

You might check with Panasonic for updated drivers or software and to see if
they are supporting this camera in XP. By the way, drivers and hardware
compatibility is the responsibility of the hardware manufacturer, not
Microsoft.
