Hi Jill,
To some extent content advisor can help you.
In IE, Tools>Internet Options flip to the content tab and click on "enable"
under Content advisor.

Internet Explorers Content advisor while better than nothing is woefully

Consider a third part program like Net Nanny.

There are others but that is one of the most well known.

Keep in mind that no filtering software is perfect. All will allow some
content you don't want and block some that you do. No software is a
subtitute for close parental supervision.
