parrallel install

Posted: 06-08-2007, 03:05 AM
I forgot my password to business and can't hack my way into the system. I'd
like to do a parallel install to c:\win to get access to my file system but
I can't seem to find out how to do this with my install cd. I've tried both
a windows anytime upgrade cd along with my vista business upgrade cd and
they both seem to only want me to upgrade.

How can I do a parallel install so I can grab some files ?

I plan to use my system restore cd once I get these files to get back
online.

Hi Joe,

Boot with the disk and start setup, but do not enter a product key. Simply
choose a version (doesn't really matter which since you're going to wipe it
out afterwards) and install.

I was about to try that, but it looked like was going to wipe out what was
in program files. Will it preserve?

Thanks,

Hi,

Only if you choose to format. By the way, have you tried booting into Safe
mode and using the system admin account (it wouldn't have a password unless
you set one, and from there you can reset your user account's password)?
