password protect folders and files

I use Windows XP Media Center. How can I password protect folders and
specific files in those folders? If cannot use password is there another
method? Thank you!

David this is the
microsoft.public.windows.vista.administration_acco unts_passwords group ( and
Windows Vista group) - please post you XP related questions to one of the XP
related groups microsoft.public.windows.xp.*
