| Hi, Assume that they can. You need to get in touch with your bank IMMEDIATELY to put a stop to your account, because until you do you will be liable for any fraudulent transactions on it. Your bank should tell you what to do next - probably close the account and transfer the balance into a new one. If you pay anything automatically out of your account, the bank should be able to sort this out for you as well, but if not then it is your responsibility to do so. | They can very easily recover your password from using your web browser. (It has the "remember me at logon" function that some overlook for convenience) All they need do is open up your browser, look at your Internet history/favorites and find sites where you login (trial and error) and then use one of the many free password revealer programs. There are many on the market that reveal the password text hidden behind asterisks ********. Notify your financial institutions immediately and change your passwords on all accounts. | It depends on your Vista version. You can't do it with Basic or Home Premium unless you have a 3rd party program. "Jen" <jpballer35@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:82744818-375C-45E6-B479-39A4E9A1C6E3@microsoft.com... Quote:

You cannot put a password on a individual folder in Vista without a 3r party program. If you have the Vista Business, Ultimate, or Enterpris version, then you can Encrypt a file or folder to keep people from bein able to access it. Only your user account can open it. Just be sure t backup the encryption certificate to be safe. You can see how to do thi here http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/99...older-file.htm Hope this helps Shaw -- Brin *There are no dumb questions, just the people that do not ask them.* '*Vista Forums* (http://www.vistax64.com/index.php?referrerid=2980) *Please post feedback to help others.* | Guest

Like WinNT, Win2K, and WinXP before it, Vistsa's file security paradigm doesn't rely on, or allow, the cumbersome method of password protection for individual applications, files, or folders. Instead, it uses the superior method of explicitly assigning file/folder permissions to individual users and/or groups. As a crude work-around, you can place the file in a compressed folder, and set a password to uncompress the folder to view/access its contents. Also, some applications allow the user to password-protect their specific data files. Read the specific application's Help files for further information on this capability. -- Bruce Chambers Help us help you: http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/555375 They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. ~Benjamin Franklin Many people would rather die than think; in fact, most do. ~Bertrand Russell The philosopher has never killed any priests, whereas the priest has killed a great many philosophers. ~ Denis Diderot | Guest
