pc world

i recently bought a Toshiba laptop from pcworld, it was an ex display model
with windows xp, after using it for a few months my friend informed me that
pcworld had not performed a clean install of windows xp before selling me
the laptop and that there were a lot of things left on it from when it was
being displayed, i want to make some repairs and perhaps do a clean install
as i am having a few problems but the only discs i had with the system are
the Toshiba drivers and Microsoft Works

should i of had a windows xp disc
should pc world have performed a clean install

any help much appreciated as i have been back to pc world and explained the
problem and they said they would have to charge me to perform a clean
install or for me to do it myself - but i dont have the disc

Re: pc world

Generally, ex-display and previously returned but working goods at PC World
have stickers on whatever is left of the packaging to indicate what is
included.. it will have been assumed that you examined the product before
buying, thus accepting any limitations.. it will also have been sold to you
at a reduced price (maybe not much)..

You could contact Toshiba for a recovery cd.. a charge maybe made for this
service.. do not expect too much of PC World service staff.. they are under
instruction to supply a service at as little cost to the company as is
humanly possible.. this applies to all who work in stores like PC World
wherever in the world they may be..
