Hi,

I assume PDF files are handled like PowerPoint viewer files.

PDF files aren't handled at all, unless you install the Adobe Reader 7.07

Hi Jared,

Only in that they require additional software to view them. PowerPoint files
run with MSOffice's PowerPoint software or viewer, .pdf files use Adobe
Acrobat Reader or Foxit software.

Adobe: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
Foxit: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php

Hi,

After installing Acrobat Reader 7, my System Stability Chart (Reliability
Monitor) shows a huge lost of performance. Does anyone have this problem? Is
it a bug or problem in/with Acrobat Reader 7?

Microsoft and Adobe are fighting like two four year-olds in a sandbox. I
wouldn't expect a lot of compatability in their respective products just yet.

ACrobat products have been awful in performance since about v3, and
getting worse with each point-release. Install the free FoxIt reader for
PDFs.

I've found there is an Acrobat Reader beta for Vista, but I just can't get
the download from Adobe to work. The download manager is pulled down ok but
when run it just hangs there doing, what seems to be, nothing!

Is there a known problem?

Thanks
Colin

Perhaps. Vista and IE7 has an issue with HTTPS sites, so if the site
is secure, it may not work properly.

In the mean time, I recommend you give Foxit Reader a try. It's free,
small, and fast. It does most of what the bloated Adobe reader does,
although I'm not sure if it runs in x64 or not. I know it works in x86
just fine.

It's a small single executable file though, so there is no
installation needed if you use the zip file, and if it doesn't, just
delete it:
