Every time I boot up my Vista x64 Ultimate machine I get the following
error in the Event Viewer:

Computer: Dell-690
Description:
The PDIHWCTL service failed to start due to the following error:

Any idea what this service is for and how to correct this error?

If you do a Google search for "PDIHWCTL"
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...e+Search&meta=
you will see it's got something to do with the Portrait Displays Inc software
on your computer.

Yes, I had already googled that, but for more that I have searched,
there is no substantive information.

The event log of my computer goes back to almost a year ago when I
first installed on it Vista 64. It already showed the same message. May
be it is a bug with the Nvidia driver that I installed for my Nvidia
cards from Dell.
