peer name resolution protocol service

Posted: 10-20-2006, 05:41 AM
taI can't get meeting space to start. I get an error: "Meeting space cannot
start because a peer-to-peer services failed". When I trace down the actual
service that fails to sart, it's the "peer name resolution protocol service".
It refuses to start, and gives the error code 0x80630203. When I trace that
error code, I get:

"One or more of the dependent services could not initialize. The modules
pnrpsvc, p2psvc, p2pimsvc, and p2phost must be present. If not present, these
modules can be manually initialized."

I'm stuck... I'm trying to get meeting space to work, but I can't get peer
services to start and the errors aren't helpful in finding the source of the
problem.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Martin,

Under services, check that the Peer Name Resolution Service is started.

Next, run the netsh command, switch to the p2p, pnrp, cloud context. Enter
the Start command and confirm it says Ok.

Next, switch to the interface, ipv6 context. Enter the command Show Teredo.
The Type should be client and the NAT should be cone.

Check out the following article for additional help and resources at the
bottom.

Hope this helps

Adrian -

Thanks for trying to help. The Peer Name Resolution Service can't start
because I can't start the peer name resolution protocol. Also, you mention
an article, but it looks like you might have forgotten the link. If you
could include that in a post, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks again.

Hi Martin,
Please check the access right of the following directory. You should have
the write access to the following directory.
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\

Which Vista build are you using? Is it an upgrade from XP or a fresh
installation of Vista?
Thanks,
Pritam

Hi Pritam -

Thanks for the help. I checked the security on the directory. I have "Full
Control". I'm using VISTA RC2 Build 5744.

Thanks again...
Martin
