"Phantom WAV player"

Posted: 07-16-2006, 09:00 PM
In XP...

Visit http://m-w.com and look up a word
Click on the red speaker icon to hear its pronunciation
The WAV file will play, but no player is visually launched

This does not occur in Vista.
In what manner can it be configured to play a WAV of this type, without
visibly launching a player?
