Philips CDD4801 CD-RW

The above-named cd-rw came preinstalled with my Compaq
5310US desktop computer. It had been working fine but
recently, it stopped working. I went through
troubleshooting and it led me to uninstall the driver
through Device Manager and then reboot. Upon rebooting,
the device is listed in Device Manager with an x over it
(meaning it is disabled) but when I try to enable it, it
says, "Windows was unable to enable this device."

Also, when I put a CD in the drive, it makes weird noises
and then when I try to access that CD through My
Computer, it shows a blank screen, seeming as if the disc
is blank when it isn't.

How can I fix this?
