Physical Memory fills up to 100% for no apparent reason

I am running Vista 64-bit with 4GB of RAM. For no apparent reason, my
computer fills up my entire 4GB of physical memory cache to 100%.
Whenever I boot up my computer, it starts at about 30%...then steadily
starts increasing up to 100%. It ends up running so slowly that it
will stop responding. Does anyone know how I can solve this problem,
or at least what might be happening?

My machine:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad Core, 2.66GHz
Memory: 4GB DDR2, 667MHz FSB
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX, 768MB
Hard Drives: two 500GB Seagate SATA, 7000 RPM

that's just vista preparing things for maybe you next time they are needed.
it adds things to memory according to your usage.
this SHOULD not slow down the computer.
might take a look at what is going on with task manager when the system gets slow.

personally I have disabled prefetch and superfetch. computer is happier.

One of the programs you have on your computer likely has a memory leak. Use
Task Monitor to find out which process is chewing up the RAM.
