Picture wizard stopped coming up

Posted: 08-09-2003, 03:46 PM
I have a Sony Dsc-71 that I have been using for about 6
months now. Everytime I went to load photos on my
computer the picture wizard came up wothout a problem.
Now all of a sudden when I plug the camera in nothing
happens. I have to manually install the photos. does
anyone have any idea how I can get the picture wizaed to
start up again?

Try the following steps.

I. Connect your camera to your computer, power it on and make sure you have
pictures on your memory card.

II. Click on Start, click on Run and type the following in the textbox:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press Enter
Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI...
This will take a few seconds to run.

III. Go to the following site:
http://www.bigblackglasses.com/staff...ds/autofix.exe

and download the autofix.exe file in one of your folder. Once done, double
click on this file. A window will open. Follow the directions on the screen.

Once done, turn off the camera and reboot.

IV. Power the camera on, wait 10-15 seconds for XP to recognize it, you
should hear some beeping sound and the window should now open giving you the
option of downloading photos from the camera.

V. You may have to set the options for this window.
Click on My Computer, your camera should be listed there under Devices with
Removable Storage. Right click on it and click on Properties. In the opening
window, click on the Autoplay tab and under Select, scroll to Pictures to
select it. Select the button Prompt me...

Will this fix work for a DVD drive where the autoplay is no longer engaging?

I don't believe so because I am having the same issue
with both my DVD and CD-RW Drives. The Camera problem is
now solved but the Autoplay feature will not engage even
after I have tried engaging it. If anyone has an answer
for this, it will be appreciated.

The answer is yes. After you start the autofix.exe file, it will ask you
which drive you want to fix and your CD and DVD drive will be listed so you
can select them for repair. If these are the drive you want to repair, there
is no need to attach a camera before downloading the autofix.exe file.
