pictures folder

I have a folder that is called mikes familly pics. for some reason i cant
access it,
im at my end can anyone help?

i dont know how it happen but one of my files is access denide and cant find
out why or how to override this, can anyone help me out.????

when i get access denied and you say to take control of folder or file and i
try the way you say but it does not work, and the way you say to do it has
diffrent prompts
can any one help me out with this so i can move on.

1) Please keep all responses in the same thread so those attempting to assist
you can follow your progress. Do *NOT* start a new thread for every reply.

2) Did you encrypt the folder? If so, you would have needed to have backed up
the encryption key as a new one is generated upon each reinstallation.

Mike, if you have XP Home, you need to boot the computer to Safe Mode and
log on with the built in Administrator account to carry out the steps in
the article.

If you have XP Pro, being logged on to any account in the administrator
will work. Did you remember to turn off simple file sharing in Folder
Options>View?

If the file and folder names of the items in question are shown in green,
they are encrypted and the directions in that ownership article won't help.
Instead you would need a copy of the encryption keys for the old account
and import them into your new account. Since you've recently reinstalled
XP, you've lost those keys (and access to the encrypted files and folders)
if you did not previously back them up.
