Playing DV out through firewire

Posted: 12-17-2006, 03:30 PM
Hi,

I want to play my video files out through my firewire port straight to DVD
Recorder. I can do it through Avid, but that seems like an overhead.

Apple have an app SimpleVideoOut X (for OSX) which plays anything Quicktime
can read out through firewire - have we got anything similar (and similarly
free?!) in the MS camp?

Ta for your thoughts,

Paddy

Windows Movie Maker.... send to DV device (may be labeled as send back to
camcorder)

It will work for AVIs if you have the right codecs installed.... (ie if they
are encoded with DIVX, you'll need the DIVX codecs installed). It may or
may not work with MPEG2. WMM really doesn't like MPEG2 editing, it's hit
and miss. But if you have other video editing software (PowerDirector,
WinDVD Creator etc) they should also have a Send Back to DV Camera feature
and they are better at editing MPEG2s!

Definitely do the trial version for Cyberlink's PowerDirector
(www.gocyberlink.com) and/or Intervideo's WinDVD Creator
(www.intervideo.com), because they may do exactly what you want... they work
well with MPEG2 and even VOB files.
