Please, help needed

I put this message about a week ago but had no response. Can anyone help?

I captured several movies from my Sony HI 8 digital camera using videomaker
and it worked ok. Because I wanted more control, I purchase the Vagas Movie
Studio+DVD program.
Now when I capture a movie it captures it a what seems to be double or
triple speed. I removed the Vegas program from the computer but I still have
the same problem. The only other thing that I did was to install a firewire
card on my computer. Could it be in the registry or maybe the cheap firewire
card?

Any help will be apreciated.

Did you try a system restore to go back to when it worked OK?
