Please help with XP fax settings

I am using Windows XP Professional. I have never been
able to send a fax. One problem I am having is I am very
confused about the DIALING RULES. I could really use a
step-by-step procedure to follow as I find the process
instructions extremely vague. If there is anyone who
knows where I can go to get some help or anyone who is
willing to offer some help to me on this I would be VERY
grateful.
