Please point me in the right direction

I'm trying to generate tones in VBScript. You know: like
when you create your own piano using QWERTY... for the
white keys and 123... for the black keys or play "Frere
Jacques" by parsing a string like "CDECCDEC...". Does any
one know a Windows XP COM object that can do something
like this? Or do I have to buy Visual C++ and DirectMusic
Producer for something so basic?
