Pointer speed

Posted: 06-30-2007, 08:31 PM
Hi

I am using Vista Ultimate, when I start my PC the pointer speed is very slow
(I have to move the mouse a long way to get the pointer where I want it).
I go to Control Panel/Mouse and change it to fast by moving the slider along
and it works okay but when I restart it is back to being slow again, I have
only noticed
this problem recently but it is there all the time now.

Any ideas on fixing this?

thanks

Daniel

Try right-clicking on C:\Windows\System32\main.cpl, choosing "Run as
Administrator". Then make your changes.

Thanks for the response but that did not work, after I reboot it just goes
back to being slow and
the settings are back to what they were, IE in the middle of the slider.

regards

Daniel,

Make sure that there is no obstruction, like lint or dirt, interfering with
the mouse sensing mechanism, like with the ball or with the optics. In
addition, make sure the surface on which the mouse operates is not so smooth
or so reflective as to cause the mouse to malfunction.

Also, here is a Microsoft guide for troubleshooting mouse problems:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/932653/

Hopefully the article applies to your situation. Let us know whether you
manage to fix this condition.

Daniel, if your mouse is either a Microsoft or Logitech here are the links
to get the software you may need:

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mo.../Download.mspx for
Microsoft

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/su...oads/&cl=us,en for
Logitech

For all other brands, do a search for their homepage and then look for the
download link. Good fortune to you.
