Policy Enabled blocking driver install

Posted: 02-26-2007, 03:31 PM
Hello all,

I have serched through the policies on VISTA and cannot locate under
'secpol.msc' a policy that restricts me from installing earlier versions of
drivers. (label printer specific). I need to allow this driver to install and
not to get the message... "Windows cannot connect to the printer. The printer
driver is not compatible with a policy enabled on your computer that blocks
NT 4.0 drivers" -

The driver is specific to the label printer (post office software - oh
dear!) could someone direct me to the policy!

Regards. Dave

I figured out how to do this. You have to create a new port, install the
latest driver even if it is for XP. When you add the printer, do not
select the network printer option. Select the add local printer.
