Possible solution for BSOD 0x0000005C

Posted: 03-19-2007, 08:03 PM
Hello,

Today I bought Home Premium Upgrade. Upon installing after the first reboot
I got the dreaded Blue Screen Of Dead (BSOD):
STOP: 0x0000005C (0x0000010B, 0x00000003, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I called Microsoft Technical Support, we tried several things but to no
avail. The last remark was that it probably had to do with hardware. After
the call I searched on this group and found out that this code had to do
with the BIOS. So I went to the site of HP and downloaded a patch for the
bios. After that the installation succeeded.

I hope I helped in some way.

I have a HP Pavillion t.3360.nl . The nl bit signifies the country which, in
this case, is Holland.

The BIOS update of HP improves compatibility with serial ATA optical
stations. That sentence is a direct translation of the Dutch description of
the update.
I provide this info in the hope that it helps resolving this BSOD.
