| Excuse me, but according to the MSFT website, it says that the RC1 build, not the pre-RC1 build. Can we please get a confirmation on this? Also, is there a way to kill the timebomb? Paul "Jimmy Brush" wrote: Quote:

| I have confirmed this. I am running the pre-RC1 build and it very clearly states that is when it expires. -- - JB Windows Vista Support Faq http://www.jimmah.com/vista/ | Guest

| Sorry to interrupt you again, Jimmy, where do you see the expiration date? Also, is there a way to break the time bomb? Paul "Jimmy Brush" wrote: Quote:

| Or, Jimmy, if you don't mind, we can do a Remote Assistance and you could show me if you don't mind. "Paul" wrote: Quote:

| I also can confirm this. "Paul" <Paul@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:92EA47C2-445A-425E-BA91-AED0639A4203@microsoft.com... Hey guys, I have a legit key from Microsoft, and activated, and have it installed. Does it ever expire? I don't think it does. | Guest

| I can confirm this as well. Pre-RC1 expires 5/31/2007.... not that it matters much since the final release will be out before then. | It is a devastating realization to those who, thinking they are getting a free operating system, have upgraded their production machines with no backups and no recourse to install another operating system. And after read through the posts all dealing with "you... mean... it expires?" and "How do I uninstall (sic) Vista?" I have come to the conclusion there are a plethora. Part of the blame may lie with Microsoft for not ensuring that those downloading the beta had, at the very least, a rudimentary understanding of essential skills such as reformatting a disk or diagnosing a problematic device, but only a small part. In the end, it is the operator of the computer that must take responsibility for his or her actions. While I feel some pity for these, as well as others who have downloaded and installed Vista without properly registering (and thereby no product key), I also feel that the consequences of their actions will serve as a lesson well learned. This experience has been traumatic for many, but hopefully educational, as well. I know I certainly have benefited immensely from the vast knowledge available from the users of this newsgroup, and have tried to contribute where my decidedly limited skills may be apropos.
