Prefetch?

Posted: 12-05-2003, 09:10 AM
Hi,
Is Windows XP embedded using Prefetch? I have seen that my
image doesn't create the Prefetch folder in c:\windows but
it seems that the keys related with Prefetch appear
correctly in the registry.

Regards.

Don't know why it doesn't work in your case.

Hi, Slobodan!

In my case enabling of prefetch gives 25% speedup of the boot. ~30
seconds vs 42 secs...

Sorry, Let me explain.

Since my image is minlogon and it is really small now it's grown little over
64 MB and boot time is currently 21s (and few seconds of this time are lost
due to our file system load in parallel with other boot activities).
I'm really satisfied and don't want to increase size of my image. In my case
I think that this XP feature would not gain me any additional speed since
our FS load time is 12s (if done without any other background disk
activity).

Also my opinion (not test result) is that all minlogon systems based on CF
would not gain extra speed.

Regards,
Slobodan

Have you installed any component or modify any setting to
activate Prefetch?

Thanks.
