Print problems with XP and wireless print server

When I print a document from XP certain characters print
incorrectly. Apostrophes and quotation marks are converted
to strange symbols and some formatting is printed
incorrectly as well. My machine is running Xp Pro and the
printer is an HP 1220c attached to a D-Link wireless print
server. I have no trouble printing from my machine that
runs win98. Is this a driver issue or something that can
be adjusted through my printer setings? I've tried the
printing troubleshooter and searched D-link's site for
information but I have come up empty.
