print screen doesnot work

I cant print the screen that is displayed It appears that
the button does not work. I have done the alt+printscreen
and also just printscreen button. How do i activate the
printscreen button. My OS is windowsxp home edition. My
portable is a Toshiba Satelite 1415-s173.
