Print to file dropping lines

After setting up a "print to file" printer for printer to
a text file as described in KB308579, I find that the
lines are dropped (missing) in the file. If I print the
same report to any other printer, the lines are intact.
Nothing in the KB about this. Anybody familiar with this
problem and have a resolution?
