Printer defaulting to offline

We have a PC with XP pro that is sectioned in two parts for my wife and I.
Access to to our Epson Photo 750 printer hasn't been a problem until recently
installing the latest McAfee security suite which includes a firewall in
addition to the MS one.
Now we can only access the printer by going into the printer settings via
'my computer' and setting it from offline to online. However is resets itself
to offline after a couple of hours or so or after being switched off!
