Printer Probs

decided to network and bit the bullet and bought XP Pro
for both.
I upgraded the XP Home first and had a problem withj the
paging file that was solved with a download from intel. I
then decided to do the ME computer. This computer had a
HP laserjet 4L attached. After the upgrade this did not
work. I worked my way through the trouble shooter without
resolution. I reinstalled drivers, ports, tested
everything. Could not get the printer to move. I pulled
the printer out of the old ME computer and plugged into
the ex XP Home and the printer works perfectly. I want to
keep it plugged into the original computer, what could be
causing this problem? Both computers are Dell Pentium 4s.

PS I am aslo having problems with the Dell Fax Modem
which just cannot seem to find a dial tone.
