Printer Server Support

Posted: 07-05-2006, 07:11 AM
I seen a number of post in the "Printing, Faxing, & Scanning" group regarding
users facing print server problems. Some lucky ones managed to get their
printers to work while others like me, is still frustrated.

The issue here is not so much of printer drivers but rather the adding of
printer server. I am using a QNAP TS-101 NAS, with a HP Deskjet 990c
attached to it. The printer can be seen in XP Professional SP2 but in Vista
Beta 2, if I use the "add a printer", my printer cannot be detected. The
only to find it was from windows explorer, through the Network icon, and do a
"\\qnap300" and followed by "enter". I will then see my TS-101 and from
there, I create my printer. Even though after creating, if I do a test
print, a message pops up saying that the print job had been sent but my
printer doesn't receive the data to print. The print queue doesn't show any
print job.

I am using vista beta 2, x64 version. The vista and xp Prof SP2 are on
installed on separate primary partitions on the same system, Intel Duo Core
2.8GHz, with 2 GB ram, ATI X1600 graphics card.

Microsoft, please do something about this. I'm sure many others share the
same frustration as me.

Thank you.
