printers with vista

I have a laptop (hpdv9000) with Vista home prem 32 and two desktops
(hpa1210n) with XP Pro. The desktop is connected to printers(hp2575,
hp4050, and hp3600) by way a branching USB port.
The computers are connected by way of a hardwired workgroup network.
From the laptop, I can access all files on the desktops, so I'm sure the
network connections are good. But.. when I try to add a printer from
the desktop connected to a printer I get the message "Windows cannot
connect to the printer. Access is denied".
