printing blank pages - sometimes - format wrong

Got Dell XP
Got wood 2002
Got word document wiht no probelms - print to Cannon and
several HP
Doing fine for about 2 months till after I installed
update downloads. I have at least one document created
in word that was just fine. It has some color words,
tables, page breaks, but nothing very heavy.
After installing suggested downloads (it might be a
coincidence) the document would not print. Only Blank
pages with an occasionial Bullet on them.
I can get it to print if I "select all" then
choose "print selection" from menu. Even then the format
comes out wrong for page breaks, etc.
It does this to many different printers and I saved
it to disk and got a coworker to try from thier computer
to a different printer. Same thing.
Other documents so far seem not to be affected.
What is going on??? Software problem??? Virus ???
