Printing in XP

Posted: 07-03-2003, 09:20 PM
I have a HP laserjet 5L that prints fine on my W98 and W95
machines but prints garbage on my XP system. The windows
XP printer test page printed just fine when I installed
the system drivers.

1. It won't always clear previous print jobs
2. It rotates my scanned images before printing them
3. The same Excel spreadsheet will printout in a half-
dithered font and then switch regular Arial font.
4. Information is also missing or chopped off of a scan
and Excel spreadsheet.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Claudio.

Try going into Admin Tools->Local Security Policy->Local
Policies->User Right Assignments and change who has access
to "Load and Unload Device Drivers". By default this is
Administrator only, so general users can not load the
drivers from the network. It seems to have worked on our
few XP machines.

I recently upgraded a Dell Optiplex 3X300 to Windows XP.
Whenever a print command is issued, or even an attempt is
made to add a printer, delete an installed printer or
reinstall existing printer drivers, the computer restarts.

After restart, the computer settings are unchanged.
