Printing problem: prints part of page then rest on the next sheet

from the paper tray then picks up another sheet and prints the rest of the
document. This is random. Say I want 3 copies of a one-page document. The
first may print correctly, the second will have some of the document on one
sheet of paper and the rest on a second sheet, then the third copy prints
correctly. I contacted HP support and after trying everything with them was
told it is a software problem. I have Windows XP (home). This is
particularly annoying when printing a large number of postcards. When I
finally get enough fronts printed correctly, the backs get messed up
resulting in large quantities of ink, paper, and patience being used up. Can
anyone help?
